The Problem

Would you enjoy living in a house subjected to this noise hundreds of times a day, practically every day of the year (ensure sound is turned on when watching the video below)?

If the answer was no, then why should the 40,000 residential and business addresses in the northern suburbs of Adelaide have to suffer? Day in, day out, Flight Training Adelaide and other training institution students (the majority of which are sourced internationally) begin their training circuits at 7:00 AM and don't cease until 11:00 PM (they seldom cease at 10:00 PM as their website suggests). These circuits are flown at altitudes lower than 1,000 feet (~300 metres). This time window is just a voluntary curfew where Parafield Airport can be seen to encourage its users to adopt a "Fly Friendly Program". The training flight planes are regularly heard before 7:00 AM and after 11:00 PM - they appear to have zero consideration for the residents in the area.

This is not a new problem. The noise issue has been happening for years and residents have been actively complaining to Airservices Australia, the Aircraft Noise Ombudsman, their local council, their local / federal politicians and even the media (ABC [2018], AdelaideNow [2017], The Australian [2009]). However, the problem has fallen on deaf ears and there has been inaction across the board, at all levels of Government and on all sides of politics. Earlier this year, the Federal Government approved the Parafield Airport Master Plan (2017) which approves the airport's theoretical ultimate capacity in annual movements to almost double over the next 20 years. As if the problem wasn't bad enough and at breaking point already, it is only going to get worse.
